Your Cayo Levantado packing checklist
| Pack | Confirm first | Leave behind |
|---|---|---|
| Swimwear, a dry change and personal sun-protection supplies. | Whether a towel is supplied; whether your accommodation allows its towels on excursions. | Bulky luggage or a heavy bag without an agreed storage arrangement. |
| A protected phone, offline meeting instructions and the provider’s contact. | The named meeting point, boarding procedure and return instructions. | Valuables you do not need for the day. |
| A separate bag for wet clothing and a small bag for your own waste. | Drinking water, meals, dietary needs and any limits on personal food or bags. | The assumption that a hotel meal plan supplies the excursion. |
| Personal essentials for the whole accommodation-to-accommodation journey. | Any equipment you want to use, storage space and facilities included in the proposal. | Extra equipment that has not been agreed with the provider. |
What to wear for the journey and beach
Choose clothing that works for both the beach and the journey back. If you leave your accommodation in swimwear, bring a comfortable cover-up and a dry change rather than relying on somewhere ashore to change. Keep the dry items separate from wet swimwear after your visit.
Choose footwear around your confirmed boarding arrangements
Ask how you will board and land before choosing your footwear. Do not plan around a pier, steps or a beach landing shown in an old photograph. Your own instructions should determine what is practical, particularly if you need help walking or boarding.
What belongs in your day bag
Keep the bag manageable enough for the road and boat segments you have agreed. Before taking a large backpack, extra equipment or luggage from an airport arrival, ask the provider how bags are carried and where they can be kept. A transfer booking does not automatically establish storage during an island visit.
Personal beach and sun-protection items
Consider a towel, hat, sunglasses and your usual sunscreen and other personal sun-protection supplies. First establish whether a towel is included. If you plan to take one from your hotel, check the property’s rules rather than assuming that hotel towels may leave the premises. Do not make your packing depend on access to resort amenities.
Keep important belongings and instructions together
Protect your phone and booking details from water exposure using a suitable pouch or bag, and check how that protection closes before you leave. Save your meeting point, contact and return instructions offline. Bring a separate bag for wet clothing so your dry change stays usable.
What to confirm before packing food, water or equipment
Read the inclusions in your written proposal. Ask what drinking water and food are supplied, at which stage of the day, and whether dietary requirements can be accommodated. If you need to bring your own supplies, confirm what is permitted and pack for the full outing rather than only the time on the island.
Treat towels, seating, changing facilities and any equipment as questions until they have been confirmed for your booking. Ask about payment methods and any agreed balance or extras before departure; this checklist does not establish that cards or cash are accepted at a particular service. Carry only what you need, and keep your own waste together for disposal at an appropriate collection point.
Adjust the checklist for your actual journey
A nearby boat connection and a long hotel-to-island journey call for different amounts of preparation. Count the time before boarding and after the return landing when deciding what personal items, dry clothing and confirmed food or water arrangements your party needs. Do not use a universal travel-time estimate to decide what to carry.
For children, keep the items needed during travel accessible rather than buried beneath beach gear. Arrange any essential requirements with the provider in advance. Packing well does not resolve an unsuitable boarding procedure or replace confirmation of appropriate child lifejackets, practical breaks and assistance.
Pack for the visit you have actually booked
Check the final bag against the experience in your written agreement. Classic, Premium and Private are starting points for a quote; none of those names alone tells you whether a towel, meal, equipment or resort access is included. An all-inclusive hotel reservation is a separate arrangement from an independent excursion.
Once those answers are clear, remove things you do not need. A light, organized bag with the right essentials is more useful than packing for every possible activity. If you are still choosing the outing, explore the Classic public-beach request and ask for the arrangements that suit your party.
Your final check before leaving the hotel
- Day bag ready, with personal essentials accessible and valuables kept to a minimum.
- Dry clothing separated from swimwear, with a bag ready for wet items.
- Towel, food, drinking-water and equipment arrangements checked against the accepted proposal.
- Exact meeting point, readiness time and boarding instructions saved offline.
- Provider contact and agreed return instructions available to your party.
- Any child, dietary, mobility or other essential requirements reconfirmed.
